Nine sessions, 40 hours total. No class Friday, October 23. Keep your day job and finish in under two weeks.

What you’ll learn

The course follows the Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) Personal Care Aide curriculum. You’ll practice every skill and demonstrate it for your RN instructor before you graduate.

  • Caring for older adults and people with disabilities
  • Bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting
  • Safe transfers, positioning, and helping with mobility
  • Infection control and handwashing
  • Home safety and accident prevention
  • Food, nutrition, and meal preparation
  • Recognizing and responding to emergencies
  • Medicaid documentation, including aide records

Where this takes you

  1. Personal Care Aide, October 19 to 28Earn your 40-hour PCA certificate and start working in home and personal care.
  2. Medication Aide training, starting in NovemberYour PCA certificate meets the training prerequisite for our Virginia Board of Nursing-approved Medication Aide program (Approval No. 0030000391).
  3. Registered Medication AidePass the state exam, register with the Board of Nursing, and give medications in assisted living.

Questions

Do I need healthcare experience?

No. This course is built for people starting out in caregiving.

What does the $295 cover?

All 40 hours of instruction, skills practice with your RN instructor, and your certificate of completion.

Can I pay over time?

Yes. Pay in full by card, or split your tuition into payments with Klarna at checkout.

What if I miss a session?

All 40 hours are required to receive your certificate, so plan to attend every session. If something comes up, contact us right away.

Where are classes held?

Your class location, login details, and a welcome packet are emailed to you after you enroll.

What can I do with a PCA certificate?

Work as a personal care aide with Virginia home care and Medicaid waiver agencies, and move straight into our Medication Aide program.
